SIGA Board Pay

Author: Colin Craig 2011/07/27

Lots of talk these days about board pay at the Saskatchewan Indian and Gaming Authority.

The story of course is that the relatively small organization has a total board compensation package of over $600,000 while many larger organizations have much lower board compensation levels.

For anyone who wants to see the actual pay sheet from the audit report, you can do so by clicking here.

Of course this document came to us in the same way that many other 'smuggled' documents do - with allegations of lavish trips and other forms of taxpayer abuse.

While we don't have the ability to investigate such matters (SIGA has no legal requirement to disclose the documents to the public), hopefully a solution can be found to bring accountability to the organization....perhaps the province could make disclosure of board pay & expenses a condition of their gaming license? Transparency is always a good first step...
